AMHERST, NY — September 21, 2026 — The Dr. Christopher Mallavarapu Scholarship for Physician Assistants is accepting applications from undergraduate students who are pursuing or preparing to enter physician assistant education and are committed to advancing patient care and service. A Career Focused on Care and Service
Dr. Christopher Mallavarapu brings a longstanding background in cardiovascular medicine, education, and research to the scholarship initiative. His academic path includes a B.S. in Chemistry from Creighton University and an M.D. from the State University of New York, followed by advanced medical training and fellowships in clinical cardiology, electrophysiology, and interventional cardiology.
Since 2013, Dr. Christopher Mallavarapu has served as Director of a regional cardiac catheterization laboratory. His professional experience also includes cardiovascular practice in multiple states and academic teaching roles at SUNY Buffalo and Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.
Education remains an important part of Dr. Christopher Mallavarapu’s professional work. During his academic career, he received the Richard Allyn, M.D. Memorial Award for Best Clinical Faculty Teacher of the Year in 1998–1999. In addition, he was honored with the Golden Stethoscope Award, recognizing exceptional professionalism, integrity, and teamwork in patient care and staff collaboration. His research contributions include published work and conference abstracts addressing cardiovascular conditions, cardiac imaging, heart rhythm disorders, coronary blood flow, and interventional cardiology.
