Eforthink at IOTE 2026: UWB Technology for Industry and Smart Living

Eforthink exhibited at the 25th International Internet of Things Exhibition, IOTE 2026, held from August 26 to 28 at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an. At Booth 10B25 in Hall 10, visitors explored UWB asset tracking, smartphone navigation, seamless access and connected living demonstrations.

The exhibition brought together customers and partners interested in applying accurate spatial information to everyday operations. Eforthink presented UWB technology through UWB technology demonstrations, connecting the technical discussion to practical questions: where an asset is, how a visitor reaches a destination, and when an authorized device should trigger an interaction.

From Industrial Digitalization to Connected Living

The booth covered two application areas. For UWB asset tracking customers, UWB asset tracking illustrated how location data can support production and logistics management. For public venues, UWB navigation demonstrated guidance on compatible smartphones. The UWB ranging demonstrations for seamless access and EforLink products extended UWB ranging interactions to entrances, computers and connected homes.

Visitors discussed deployment requirements, integration and potential pilot projects with the team. These conversations helped identify where UWB technology could address specific operational needs and where a site assessment or compatibility check would be needed before implementation.

Connecting Spatial Awareness with Everyday Services

In an interview with Matter Flux, Eforthink discussed the move from connecting devices to using spatial context in automated services. Distance and registered device identity can give an application useful context, allowing a configured action to occur when an authorized user approaches or leaves.

UWB ranging supplies distance information; the associated application determines the response. Identity association, authorization rules and integration with the controlled device remain separate parts of the system. This approach supports more direct UWB ranging interactions while keeping the intended behavior clear to the user.

For industrial operations, the same focus on context starts with asset visibility. A location becomes more useful when it is associated with an asset record, production step or defined work area. The exhibition connected these operational applications with the emerging use of indoor location services on personal devices.

Four Highlights from the Eforthink Booth1. UWB Asset Tracking for Production and Logistics

Eforthink demonstrated UWB asset tracking for locating materials, equipment and other production resources. Tags, anchors and positioning software work together to show where identified assets are within the deployed coverage area. Asset visibility can help teams reduce manual searches and coordinate movement between workstations or storage areas.

The company highlighted its work on chip selection, hardware design and a range of tags to address different installation and cost requirements. The aim is to make centimeter-level positioning more practical for wider industrial adoption. Actual accuracy, tag capacity and total project cost depend on the selected hardware, update settings and site conditions.

Eforthink also reported receiving an IOTE 2026 Gold Award for innovation. This recognition was presented alongside the UWB asset tracking demonstration; it does not replace project-specific performance validation. Customers evaluating UWB asset tracking can review the hardware configuration and define acceptance criteria around their own processes.

2. Smartphone-Based UWB Navigation

The UWB navigation demonstration used a downlink time difference of arrival architecture, or DL-TDoA. Anchors transmit positioning signals, while compatible smartphones receive them and calculate position locally. Bluetooth provides an out-of-band coordination channel where required by the implementation.

This enables indoor location services without issuing an additional wearable tag to each participating visitor. Deployment still requires installed anchors, mapped routes, a supported application and validated handset compatibility. Support for iOS and Android refers to compatible implementations within those ecosystems; a phone containing a UWB chip is not automatically supported.

Because receiving phones do not each require a two-way ranging exchange, UWB navigation is suited to venues with many simultaneous visitors. End-to-end service capacity also depends on application, network and backend design. Potential settings include shopping malls, transportation hubs, museums, exhibition centers and hospitals.

3. Seamless Access with Authorized Smartphones

The entrance demonstration showed how UWB ranging can help an access system recognize an approaching, registered smartphone. After the system checks the associated credentials and access permissions, the configured gate can open without a separate card swipe or QR-code scan.

This application combines distance information with authorization; proximity alone does not grant access. The final experience depends on the supported phone, application permissions, credential provisioning and integration with the gate controller. The booth allowed visitors to see the intended interaction and discuss how it could fit an existing entrance.

For property operators and integrators, UWB technology offers a way to connect an authorized device’s position with an access workflow. Site design must distinguish an intended approach from passing nearby and retain the entrance’s existing operational requirements.

4. EforLink Products for Smart Living

EforLink ScreenLock combines UWB ranging hardware with desktop software for computer lock and unlock interactions. A registered phone approaching or leaving the configured distance can trigger the supported screen action. The demonstration also introduced configurable distance settings, device management and remote locking functions within the product’s supported configuration.

The EforLink UWB ID Presence Sensor serves a different purpose. It associates supported UWB devices with identity and distance information for configured home automations. Demonstrated ideas included personalized lighting, air-conditioning settings, smart bathroom functions and height-adjustable desks through compatible integrations such as Home Assistant.

Here, UWB ranging adds device-associated context to automation. It should not be described as biometric recognition or universal detection of every person in a room. The selected sensor, registered device and automation platform determine which responses can be implemented for different household members.

Continuing the Work Beyond IOTE 2026

The exhibition showed how UWB technology can support both industrial workflows and more intuitive device interactions. Eforthink will continue developing its positioning products, deployment options and ecosystem integrations, with attention to accuracy, cost and application requirements.
