Lourdes Fasani’s Luli Series Celebrates Immigration, Cultural Heritage, and the Courage to Begin Again

Award Worthy Children’s Books Share the Journey of a Young Cuban Girl Finding Her Place in a New World

Marianao, Cuba – September 10, 2026 Author Lourdes Fasani announces the Luli children’s book series, a collection of inspiring stories based on the experiences of a young Cuban immigrant discovering life, friendship, and belonging in America.

Through the eyes of Luli, readers experience the emotions and challenges of leaving behind a familiar home and adjusting to a new country. The series explores meaningful childhood moments, including saying goodbye to loved ones, entering a new school, discovering unfamiliar foods, experiencing winter for the first time, and celebrating new traditions.

Inspired by Fasani’s own childhood as an immigrant from Marianao, Cuba, the Luli series offers young readers a heartfelt perspective on resilience, family connections, and cultural identity. Each story highlights how children can embrace new experiences while continuing to honor the traditions and memories that shape who they are.

The books provide an opportunity for families and educators to discuss important themes such as empathy, acceptance, diversity, and the immigrant experience. Through Luli’s adventures, children learn that differences in language, customs, and traditions can become opportunities for friendship and understanding.

The series includes stories that explore Luli’s first experiences in America, from adjusting to school life and cafeteria meals to celebrating Thanksgiving with new neighbors and experiencing her first snowfall after leaving the warm climate of Cuba. Each story captures the wonder, uncertainty, and growth that come with discovering a new environment.

“Childhood memories have the power to connect people across generations and cultures,” says Lourdes Fasani. “I wanted to share Luli’s experiences so children can see the importance of kindness, family, and appreciating the journey that brings us to where we are.”

Fasani’s background as a bilingual educator has deeply influenced her storytelling. After arriving in the United States as a child, she experienced the challenges of adapting to a new language and culture. Her work supporting English learners later strengthened her passion for creating stories that help children feel represented and understood.

The Luli series is ideal for classrooms, libraries, families, and readers who appreciate stories that celebrate cultural experiences and personal growth. The books encourage children to explore different backgrounds while recognizing the shared emotions that connect us all.

With warmth and authenticity, Lourdes Fasani transforms personal memories into stories that inspire young readers to appreciate their heritage, welcome new experiences, and understand the importance of belonging.
