SPOKANE, WA – What began as a chainsaw carving created on the other side of the world has become a heartwarming children’s book now inspiring young readers everywhere.
Author, educator, leadership coach, and chainsaw artist Aaron Chavez is proud to announce the release of Brin and Melly, now available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle editions.
Brin and Melly tells the story of an unlikely friendship between Brin, a lonely grizzly bear, and Melly, a cheerful owl. Through adventure, discovery, and teamwork, young readers learn valuable lessons about kindness, courage, friendship, and belonging.
What makes the story especially unique is its origin. The characters were inspired by a chainsaw carving Chavez created while working with Canadian International Schools in Guangzhou, China. As he carved the bear and owl, he imagined a friendship between them, an idea that eventually grew into a children’s book.
“Melly was inspired by my first granddaughter, Melody, whose nickname is Melly,” said Chavez. “As a chainsaw carver, I’ve always believed every carving tells a story. Brin and Melly grew from that belief and became a story about friendship, imagination, and finding connection in unexpected places.”
In addition to writing children’s books, Chavez is known throughout Washington State as a chainsaw carver, school leader, and story teller. Over the past 25 years, he has served as a teacher, principal, superintendent, executive director, and international school director while creating chainsaw carvings for clients, communities, schools, and organizations.
He is available for author visits, school assemblies, literacy events, leadership presentations, and live chainsaw carving demonstrations.
The release of Brin and Melly marks the beginning of an exciting new children’s book series. A second adventure is already in development, continuing the journey of Brin, Melly, and new friends as they explore a world filled with mystery, courage, and imagination.
