/r/DankChristianMemes is an ecumenical community based on Reddit.com that provides Christian fellowship, theological discussion and humorous memes on the internet. Currently, the community is working towards raising funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through a fundraising campaign.
This fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital started at the beginning of Lent with multiple other Reddit communities expected to participate alongside /r/DankChristianMemes in the fundraiser.
St. Jude Hospital is a 50-year-old Cancer Research Charity Hospital that asks for no treatment, travel, housing, or food costs for children. This fundraiser is the first-ever event organized by the group of Reddit communities and they wish to make it an annual event.
“At DankChristianMemes we do our best to create a welcoming and fun environment for everyone. We are blessed to have great partners and a generous community. So far we have raised over $11,000 for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We are thankful to everyone who contributed. We look forward to doing another fundraiser next lent”, said u/Broclen from Dank Christian Memes.

This fundraiser will serve as an interesting point of comparison between the community focus of Reddit and what future shareholders may want for the social media platform, as Reddit is reportedly planning an IPO.
