National Association of Crime Analysts Announces August Launch

July 03 21:09 2026

AUSTIN, TX – July 3, 2026 – The National Association of Crime Analysts (NACA), a newly formed nonprofit professional association, announced today that it will launch in August 2026, giving United States-based crime analysts an independent professional home built specifically to serve practitioners in the field.

NACA is a membership-based association designed to serve public and private sector crime analysts, while also engaging the police executives and city managers who rely on analysts’ work and increasingly recognize the value of data-driven policing. The organization was formed in response to a gap identified by working analysts: a lack of a professional body dedicated solely to advocating for the crime analysis profession.

“It’s fitting that we’re making this announcement on Independence Day,” said Jim Mallard, founding president of NACA. “Crime analysts deserve a professional home with the independence to advocate boldly on their behalf. The future of our profession starts now, and we invite the entire analyst community to build it with us.”

The association’s founding leadership team also includes Amanda Bruner, board treasurer, and Kassie Langdon, board secretary, who are guiding NACA’s initial governance structure and membership programs ahead of the August launch.

NACA will offer a tiered membership structure designed to lower barriers to entry for analysts at every career stage. The “Affiliate” tier, free for the first 12 months, grants analysts, aspiring analysts, and public safety decision-makers access to curated training content, an analyst news feed, quarterly webinars, and a job board.

The “Associate” tier, priced starting at $20 per month, adds in-depth webinars, additional training content, and an expanding resource vault updated on a regular basis. The “Professional” tier, at $30 per month, includes hands-on consulting and technical training led by experienced subject matter experts, small-group mentorship, and an expanding training catalog focused on the skills analysts need to advance in the field.

“Skill-building and advocacy should be accessible to the people who need it most,” said Amanda Bruner, board treasurer of NACA. “The goal is not just to issue membership cards, but to build a visible grassroots network of advocates who will champion data-led policing and professional analytical standards in every agency nationwide.”

The association’s educational programming will be hosted on a single digital platform and will include a monthly rotating series of interactive programming, including “Office Hours” expert question-and-answer sessions, emerging technology roundtables, and small-group mentoring sessions designed to meet analysts at their current skill level and help them progress.

The launch comes as police agencies nationwide face growing pressure to use data and analysis to guide public safety strategy, a shift that has expanded the role of crime analysts from a largely administrative function into a core part of modern policing operations. NACA’s founders say that shift has outpaced the availability of dedicated professional development and advocacy resources built specifically for analysts, a gap the association intends to fill.

In addition to training and mentorship, members will have access to a job board and a curated industry news feed, giving analysts and agency decision-makers visibility into open positions, emerging technology, and policy developments across the field. NACA plans to expand its programming on an ongoing basis, with additional resources added to the membership platform each month following the August launch.

NACA’s structure reflects input from working analysts across public and private sector agencies, according to the association’s founders, who say the organization was built from the outset to be governed by and responsive to its membership rather than modeled on the structure of existing professional groups. Regional engagement and chapter development are expected to be addressed as part of the association’s post-launch roadmap, with further details to be announced in the coming months.

Membership registration and additional details on NACA’s training catalog will become available at the [NACA website](https://www.naca-usa.org) ahead of the association’s official August 2026 launch. Analysts, agency leaders, and public safety officials interested in following the launch can sign up for updates through the [NACA website](https://www.naca-usa.org).
