78% of Brits Surveyed See Nurses As Underpaid, While Only 30% Agree Rail Workers Are Underpaid

Brits have sympathy with striking Nurses with 78% of those surveyed by YouGov/Aspect between 5th – 6th January 2023, believing they were either ‘severely underpaid’ (51%) or ‘a little underpaid’ (27%).
82% of Londoners surveyed seeing Nurses as needing more money in their wage packet.
Attitudes to striking Nurses contrasts sharply to how people view the pay demands of striking Rail and Royal Mail workers.
Only 30% of those surveyed believed Rail workers were underpaid, broken down into 24% seeing them as ‘a little underpaid’ and just 6% ‘severely underpaid’.
Infact, 26% thought Rail workers were Overpaid, which is broken down into 15% seeing them as ‘a little overpaid’ and 11% ‘severely overpaid’.  Those who didn’t know either way was 25%.
42% of Royal Mail workers were underpaid according to YouGov/Aspect’s survey, with 32% saying they were ‘a little underpaid’ and 10% ‘severely underpaid’.
Meanwhile, 29% of Border Force workers were underpaid, including 6% severely underpaid. Don’t knows were at 47% in terms of attitudes towards the take-home pay of Border Force staff.
Aspect are one of London’s largest business and residential property maintenance specialists serving railways, hospitals, the NHS, London residents to the High Street. They handle plumbing, electrics, roofing, drainage, leak investigation and heating.
Former Société Generale banker, Will Davies, CEO of Aspect says: “Brits clearly appreciate the vital job nurses provide and that they deserve every penny they receive and that their wages could potentially increase ahead of inflation”.
Mr Davies continues: “Meanwhile, Rail and Royal Mail workers haven’t won too many friends during the strikes with many indicating they are not in any way underpaid”.
