Protecting What Matters Most: How HELVITEK LABS’ Nevo Mask is Ushering in a New Era of Essential Urban Wear

January 24 20:06 2022

Each year more people die from breathing unsafe air than having a road accident, the Nevo Mask is the modern solution for modern problems

Over the past two years, society has acclimated to social distancing, wearing masks, vaccines, and everything in between; but long before COVID began, one Switzerland-based startup was laying the groundwork for a cutting-edge innovation to save lives from the increasingly dangerous micro-particles we breathe in every day. Micro-particles from smog, dust, haze, and wildfires are responsible for more than 7 million deaths per year worldwide. To fight this silent pandemic, HELVITEK LABS has masterfully crafted the Nevo Urban Mask — a one-of-a-kind triple-layer Swiss-made mask fitted with an ergonomic medical grade elastomer seal to fit and shield users from harmful and deadly particles.

For those who reside in urban environments, there are a few staples one grabs before leaving the house; headphones, sunglasses, perhaps a helmet if the preferred mode of transportation is cycling, but what about lung protection? Upon understanding the harsh impact of the sun on our skin and eyes, society rapidly adapted to making eye protection not only mainstream but fashionable. HELVITEK LABS’ mission is to educate the public on the uncomfortable realities of micro-particles, and empower a new generation to take the topic of their health and safety into their own hands.

The eco-conscious Nevo Urban Mask features a core made of 100% bio-based materials and interchangeable high-quality filter encapsulated between an antiviral cover and a Swiss Made ergonomic medical seal to protect users from allergens, viruses, and particulate matter. This perfect seal is essential to provide perfect protection from an imperfect world; not to mention, this seal prevents glasses from fogging up while breathing.

Compatible with both glasses and helmets to reduce friction and frustration, the Nevo Urban mask leverages the power of one-click magnetic buckles that attach at the back of the neck to ensure optimal comfort, gently covering the mouth and nose while other areas of the face are left untouched.

“While living in Asia I was looking for an urban mask that would provide serious protection and comfort. When I realized what was available in the market, I simply decided to develop one myself.” – Theo Denisart (CEO of HELVITEK LABS)

Through proof of concept, dedication to innovation and revolutionized urban wear, and unwavering commitment to protecting what matters most, HELVITEK LABS’ purpose-driven vision has come to fruition with the Nevo Mask.

About HELVITEK LABS

HELVITEK LABS is a Lausanne-based start-up founded in 2019 by Theo-Tim Denisart, a graduate of the EPFL (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne) and Roberto Costa, former marketing director at Swatch. Their wish was to create a new generation of urban anti-pollution masks after experiencing numerous trips to China where they came face to face with the deadly issue of fine particle pollution. The firm very rapidly received encouragement and support at the Start Lausanne contest, 8th Edition, which was followed by a YGrant from the EPFL, then a Digital Grant from the FIT (Vaud Foundation for Technological Innovation). These awards allowed the partners to rapidly achieve the credibility needed to launch the venture and obtain the funds to set up in the EPFL Innovation Park and assemble a team. The company was officially incorporated as a Societe Anonyme (public limited company) in March 2020.
