AUSTIN, TX – The second leadership class of Ascension Leadership Academy (ALA), as part of its transformational curriculum, has created a large-scale community service project to support a local non-profit organization. The 2021 class, comprised of 39 volunteers, has chosen to support Mobile Loaves & Fishes, and has set out to raise $177,757, collect goods, and throw an event. The campaign runs until September 23, 2021.

The Ascension Leadership Academy community service project captain, Bridget Guess, said “Mobile Loaves and Fishes has been an integral part of taking hopeless situations and innovating (them) to create powerful real solutions to our environment and communities. They truly understand the power of generosity and service to humanity.  We stand behind every decision they make because of their proven track record of successful projects throughout the country.”

Over half a million people in the US are experiencing homelessness. Many of these humans suffered a profound catastrophic loss of family and are left feeling hopeless and abandoned with no sense of community. As a result, they struggle without access to permanent housing and physical and mental healthcare.

Mobile Loaves & Fishes, a 501c3 non-profit, is the visionary organization that created Community First! Village, 51-acre master planned community that provides affordable, permanent housing, and a supportive community for men and women coming out of chronic homelessness. The community currently serves 250 formerly homeless neighbors, and their next phases will provide homes for more than 1,600 additional people.

“We are so grateful to the Ascension Leadership Academy for bringing more awareness to such a life changing cause in giving others a second chance to live a fuller life. The classes of Ascension Leadership Academy are powerful leaders dedicated to making a huge impact in the world.” said Ana-Cristina Gonzalez, chief goodness officer of Mobile Loaves & Fishes.
