With the return to school coming soon, the Lakeside Union School District is doing all it can to ensure that students feel comfortable back in the classroom, whether students choose to be in-person or virtual! LUSD has built a school, Lakeside Flex, that allows students more flexibility than the normal 5 days a week, in-person schedule.
The Lakeside Flex School was created with students and families in mind to provide an innovative educational experience for students of the community who need an alternative option. LUSD Flex School provides students with a teacher and personalized core instruction, in-person and/or virtual enrichment and intervention, and the opportunity to apply their learning in relevant, real-world projects.
LUSD Flex is available to all students in grades Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade. The innovative program provides kids the resources they need to succeed.
Students access their coursework through an adaptive, cutting-edge online learning platform that they can access remotely, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In addition to online learning, students can create a hybrid schedule for themselves and go into the classroom for in-person learning up to two days a week. Extra support is available to students who want more assistance, either virtual or in person.
LUSD Flex School provides primary students with supplemental hands-on, non-computer-based materials such as readers, math manipulatives, and more. Spanish and Mandarin Enrichment are also available to students in the flex program, depending upon space.
