$250,000 STEM Grant Brings Ed Tech Startup NextWaveSTEM to Illinois Schools

50 Illinois schools will receive grant funding to bring STEM to their students.

NextWaveSTEM, a Chicago based Ed Tech startup that provides STEM education for K-12 students, is bringing its courses in Drones, Robotics, 3D Printers, and A.I to students across Illinois thanks to a $250,000 grant from Maverick Energy Solutions.

This grant is supporting 50 schools in accessing NextWaveSTEM courses that kick start learning with the next wave of technologies in the classroom. Schools receive curriculum, teacher training, and equipment to bring STEM courses to their in-school or after-school programs.

Drones, Robots, and 3D Printers in the classroom allow students to build, code, play, and learn to make important connections to the real world. NextWaveSTEM curriculum is designed to support students in meeting the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and the Next Generation Science Standards, fostering 21st century skills. 

NextWaveSTEM curriculum sparks students’ critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and curiosity by introducing them to coding skills and cutting-edge STEM. The NextWaveSTEM experience allows students to explore emerging technologies in a hands-on, pressure-free learning environment that integrates STEM into the traditional K—12 classroom. Our courses develop students’ confidence as they express their creativity and learn how to fail without fear.
