THE MUSEUM OF LATIN AMERICAN ART (MOLAA) Announces A Critical Appointments and One Well-Deserved Promotion

Long Beach, CA – The Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach announces a critical appointment and one well-deserved promotion. 

Cedric Woolfordhas been appointed to the role of Vice President of Finance and Operations. Solimar Salashas been promoted to the role Of VP of Museum Content & Development. Solimar was previously Director of Museum Content & Development. Dr. Lourdes Ramos made these announcements at the beginning of June. 

Dr. Ramos states: “MOLAA has the grand ambition of turning the museum to an Internationally recognized institution known for provoking admiration and intrigue. We have been on track to accomplish this goal and these appointments will accelerate us towards that distinction.”

As the Vice President of Finance, Cedric Woolford’s responsibilities will include overseeing the finance team and all accounting activities, including the development and implementation of the annual budget. It will also consist of supervising MOLAA’s day-to-day operations to ensure that they are effective and efficient for the museum. 

Cedric comes to MOLAA with more than 20 years of professional accounting and finance experience, having served most recently as the Chief Finance Officer of the Student Union at San Jose State University. Cedric received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting from California State University, Long Beach.  

As VP of Museum Content & Development, Solimar Salas’s responsibilities include overseeing the Exhibitions, the Education, and the Public Relations & Marketing Departments, including exhibitions scheduling, educational partnerships, museum branding and communications.

Solimar joined MOLAA in 2018 and steadily proved herself to be a valuable asset earning this promotion.  She arrived at MOLAA with more than 15 years of professional experience in art museums, working directly with collection’s stewardship, exhibition design and logistics, education programming, community relations and museum accreditation procedures. She was Director of Education at the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico. Solimar received a Bachelor of the Arts in Biological Anthropology, with a concentration in Latin American Literature from Swarthmore College and has a Masters of Business Administration with a concentration in Information Technology from the University of the Sacred Heart in San Juan, Puerto Rico and a Master of the Arts in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins University.

These appointees will report directly to MOLAA’s President & CEO Dr. Lourdes Ramos. Please join us in congratulating these stellar individuals.

MOLAA is the only museum in the United States dedicated to modern and contemporary Latin American and Latino art.
