Houston, TX, USA – Bloc Energy LLC is excited and pleased to welcome Mr. William Underwood onto the Bloc Energy Team as our Chief Legal Adviser. William B. Underwood, III graduated from the University of Houston in 1980 with a B.B.A.; M.B.A. 1981; and J.D. 1986. He appears in Who’s Who Among American Law Students, Young Community Leaders in America, Who’s Who in International Business, and Who’s Who in American Law.Mr. Underwood is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law, Texas Board of Legal Specialization and Board-Certified Civil Trial Advocate, National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is a member of the American and Texas Bar Associations and the Texas Association of Defense Counsel.
Mr. Underwood’s practice includes administrative issues before several state agencies, aviation litigation; construction litigation; insurance coverage and indemnity; commercial litigation; insurance agency issues; maritime litigation; Jones Act Defense; general corporate; international law and personal injury. He is also heavily involved in numerous business and contract transactions for many clients. Mr. Underwood has extensive experience in the areas of commercial business issues, insurance defense, construction litigation, and maritime matters. His areas of practice include construction law, insurance defense with an emphasis in casualty and automobile litigation, maritime personal injury defense, insurance agents’ errors and omissions issues, general commercial litigation, general corporate matters and representation in administrative law issues.
He has represented various clients in arbitrations and before the Texas Department of Insurance and Texas Agriculture Department. Mr. Underwood has also made appearances before the Texas Department of Insurance and Texas Agriculture Department, as well as appearances before The Texas Legislature in Sunset Committee hearings. He has participated in the trial of more than 100 jury trials. Before beginning his law practice, Mr. Underwood held a variety of positions in the insurance field, ranging from adjuster with hull, P&I and casualty insurance underwriters to Executive Vice President for a major regional insurance broker. Mr. Underwood practice in the Southern, Northern, Eastern, and Western Districts of the United States District Courts of Texas. He also practices law in the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, The United States Tax Court, and all courts in Texas.
